Curriculum

Willow Cottage adopts the Early Learning Framework for Australia (EYLF), "Belonging, Being, and Becoming".

This framework for Early Childhood educators has been developed to carry out the Australian Government's vision where "All children have the best start in life, to create a better future for themselves and the nation."

Belonging - knowing where and with whom you belong.

Being - recognises the importance of the here and now in children's lives.

Becoming - reflects the process of rapid and significant change that occurs in the early years, as young children learn and grow.

The Framework

The framework EYLF conveys the highest expectations for all childrens' learning from birth to 5 years, and through the transition to school.  It communicates these expectations through the following five learning outcomes:

  • Learning Outcome 1 - Children have a strong sense of identity.
  • Learning Outcome 2 - Children are connected with and contribute to their world.
  • Learning Outcome 3 - Children have a strong sense of wellbeing.
  • Learning Outcome 4 - Children are confident and effective learners.
  • Learning Outcome 5 - Children are effective communicators.

Using this framework, our educators create the curriculum to achieve the goals of EYLF.
